Academy of Fine Arts in Prague was established in 1799 by decree passed by Emperor Franz I. With its rich history and tradition, the institution played a significant role in the formation of a modern Czech culture of fine art. The Academy of Fine Arts has the status of a public university and it is well placed to offer intensive, focused support for the development of talent.

It has its own spacious north-facing historical ateliers with overhead lighting, as well as various technological workshops. It offers an individual approach and a clear system of teaching, within the framework of which it is possible to transfer between ateliers and disciplines.

The Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague was founded in 1885. Throughout its existence it has ranked among the best educational institutions in the country. It boasts a number of successful graduates who have gone on to become respected professionals, garnering acclaim beyond the Czech Republic. The school is divided into the departments of architecture, design, fine arts, applied arts, graphic and theory and history of art. Each department is divided into studios according to their specialist area.

The studios are all led by leading figures of the Czech art scene. Twice a year the school opens to the public for a presentation of student work, entitled “Artsemestr”. Each year the school organises over 15 exhibitions, half of which are shown abroad. Prague UMPRUM, as one of the only schools of former post-communist countries, is featured in the index of prestigious European and world art schools. In the worldwide QS World University Rankings UMPRUM ranked among the 50-100 most prestigious art schools in the world

MUSIC AND DANCE FACULTY (HAMU)

The Academy of Performing Arts is the biggest and oldest Czech university level school of drama, film, TV, multi-media, music and dance studies. Theatre Faculty covers a wide range of disciplines: acting, directing, puppetry, dramaturgy, scenography, theatre-in-education, theatre management and theory and criticism. The school educates future theatre professionals, specialists in the field of culture, communications, media etc. 

International students can study at DAMU in the framework of European exchange programmes or enrol as individual short-term students. Film and TV School has been training practically all filmmaking talents creating Czech film for over 60 years. FAMU – with its traditions of artistic mentoring under top practitioners, its excellent technical support, and its deep curriculum spanning ten departments devoted exclusively to audio-visual media – is now open to foreign students as never before with short-term courses, exchanges, and world-class Masters Programmes

College of Polytechnics Jihlava


The College of Polytechnics Jihlava is the only public HEI in the Vysočina Region. The aim of the 3-year Bachelor´s programmes and the 2-year follow-up Master´s programme is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and comprehensive practical training. 

The language of instruction in most programmes is Czech with English courses to complement the curricula. Applied knowledge and career guidance enhance graduates´ employability. There is a strong need for IT and health care professionals in the Czech Republic.

ČVUT

The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) is one of the largest and oldest technical universities in Europe. According to Methodology 2017+, CTU occupies first place in the rankings for technical universities in the Czech Republic

Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) is a young, open and dynamically developing university situated in the Ústí Region, which is located in Northwest Bohemia. It offers 42 Bachelor study programmes, 44 Master study programmes and 18 Doctoral study programmes.

The Prague University of Economics and Business (Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze, VŠE) is a public university founded in 1953. It is a leading Czech university in fields of management and economics. About 14 thousand students are enrolled at VŠE and it employs more than 600 qualified academics.

Graduates occupy positions in the sectors of banking, accounting and auditing, sales, marketing, business and trade, public administration, information technologies, etc. Studies at VŠE meet the requirements of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
