How to Nostrify a Higher Education Diploma In the Czech Republic?

Posted on 3.11.20213.11.2021 by InfoPoint UJOP

If you have received higher education somewhere other than Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Hungary or Slovenia, you need to confirm your diploma in order to continue your studies in the Czech Republic. In the Czech Republic, the procedure of education recognition is called nostrification.

In this text, we will try to answer the most frequently asked questions related to nostrification of a higher education diploma. If you have not found the answer to your question, please write to us at studujop@ujop.cuni.cz

Where do you submit your documents?

Documents are submitted to the administration of the university where a specialty closest to the one indicated in your diploma is taught. Higher education is recognized without exams.

When do you need to submit documents?

We recommend that you do this immediately after you arrive in September so that there is more time to appeal (if necessary) and less worries.

Do you want to study at the best Czech universities for free?

You only need to do two things for this – learn Czech and prepare well for the entrance exams. All this can be done on ILPS preparatory courses of Charles University – we prepare for admission in almost all fields. Click the banner

What documents do I need to submit?

1. Application form

The application form may vary in different universities, so make sure to take the form from the website of the university where you are applying

2. Diploma with grades attachment

Education documents have to be translated into Czech by a court translator. If your diploma is in English or in two languages, one of which is English, no translation is needed.

3. State license

Needed if you graduated from a private educational institution.

4. Subjects’ abstracts

Some universities require them in the first place, other –if they need to clarify specific topics and the amount of material studied.

5. Power of attorney to the person who manages your nostrification process

If someone helps you to collect and submit your documents, it is better to give a power of attorney to this person so that they can communicate with institutions in case there are any additional requirements or recognition denial.

How much does this cost?

Administrative fee is 3,000 crowns. You pay it to the university where you submit your documents for consideration.

Who can help me?

Study centers’ consultants help students of preparatory courses to collect and submit the documents. They do it for free, you do not need to pay for assistance in diploma nostrification as a separate service – this is included in the course price. Consultants make certified copies of documents, find a Czech court translator (not only from Russian), provide translation and control its correctness, fill out application forms and check whether you have all the necessary documents.

What does one do if the recognition was denied?

Appeal. Study centers’ consultants help our students with this.

How long is the nostrification certificate valid?

Nostrification has no expiration date, i.e. you get it once and it is valid all your life.
