The system of higher education in the Czech Republic has three stages: bachelor’s, master’s and doctor’s degree. What does a foreigner who wants to get a bachelor’s degree in the Czech Republic need to know?
Who can apply for undergraduate programs?
Any foreigner who has completed secondary education and has the relevant document, a secondary or technical school certificate or diploma, can enter a Czech university. The general rule is that if your certificate or diploma allows you to enter a university in your country, the Czech Republic recognizes this right of you as well. The procedure of recognizing your education document is called nostrification, you can read more about it here. Within the framework of the preparatory courses at Charles University, we help you with the bureaucratic issues of nostrification process.
How much do studies for a bachelor’s degree cost?
There are two possible answers to this question.
Option 1: free of charge. Foreigners have the right to study at a Czech university for free, but only with program conducted in Czech. At the preparatory courses of Charles University we have been teaching Czech to foreigners for over 60 years. Within a year, foreigners who do not speak any Slavic language can learn Czech up to the B1 level. Find out more about different levels of Czech.
Knowing Czech at the B1 level is enough to enter many faculties in the Czech Republic. Find out which faculties accept our language certificate.
You will feel much more confident with the B2 level. To reach this level, we recommend you singing up for the advanced FAST course after completing the first one.
