June. The chain of certificate handover ceremonies in our study centres flashed by at high speed. On 1 June, students from Voršilská received their certificates at the final ceremony in the university chapel. In addition to the preparatory courses that help applicants to get ready for admission to a university, the Institute’s system also includes courses in which only Czech is taught. Intensive courses last 6 weeks, one semester or even two
Mgr. Barbora Štindlová, Ph.D., Deputy Director: Good afternoon, dear colleagues, dear students! Thank you for the invitation to this beautiful chapel and I’m glad to see that you have perfectly sailed through this extreme year, as my colleague says. You have completed your studies, you have learned Czech with your teachers. And many of you have also managed to get to the certificates that you are going to receive today.
„Czech is hard, but with you it’s quite easy“
Lucas, Germany: Four months in the 202 class. It was fun and it was interesting. But it wasn’t easy. Perfect verbs, genitive plural, masculine animate – we don’t like them, and that’s why we’re happy to have the best teacher. She baked a cake, she went to a library and to a party with us. Thanks to the teachers and to the university for the great help. Czech is hard, but with you it’s quite easy.
Paní Jana, teacher: And I would also like to thank you very much for the great toleration and respect that was in place in our class. For your excellent work during the whole semester. And for the friendly atmosphere. These people have studied together. And these people have also lived together and communicated as friends after the classes. Well, we have probably celebrated at least six birthdays, we have collaborated and went out for beer together. And we have enjoyed each other’s company, and I think that none of us will forget this semester spent together. And I thank you for all of that.
Cesar, Mexico: When I started studying Czech here at Charles University, I thought it would not be easy, and many people thought so too. And so it wasn’t, it wasn’t. But I didn’t think that I would enjoy myself so much with you. That I will find new friends and that I will think of our school as of my second home.

„Today I understand Czech culture better“
Cesar, Mexico: When I started studying Czech here at Charles University, I thought it would not be easy, and many people thought so too. And so it wasn’t, it wasn’t. But I didn’t think that I would enjoy myself so much with you. That I will find new friends and that I will think of our school as of my second home. And today not only do I speak and understand Czech better, but I also understand Czech culture better.
Paní Katka, teacher: This class was amazing, I think we all had a lot of fun. They have made such an amazing team together. We also had two trips together with the six-week students, they have also fit into the team, and I hope that you will maintain your friendship. I wish you good luck in your future. And today we are sad that this beautiful journey is over, but I just want to remind you that it is only A2 that is over, you still have B1, B2, C1, C2, D1…
Mkrtich, Georgia: First of all, I would like to congratulate all the students on completing the course. Also, a big thanks to all the teachers of the university. Because you have an excellent school. It was great for us as for students. I would also like to congratulate and also to thank our teachers in particular.
„5 months course was a long way, but thanks to our teachers, we’ve made it“
Sulistiawati, Indonesia: I would like to say something on behalf of our class. Thank you very much for the great Czech language course we had for the last 5 months, this level certainly was not easy, it was a long way, but thanks to our teachers, Ms. Zuzana and Ms. Karolína, we’ve made it. Mrs. Zuzana, we will remember your lessons, fun and interactive, your funny pictures on the board when we talked about the difference between „zapamatovat si“, „vzpomenout si“ and „zapomenout“. Also your patience when we kept asking you. „why?“ and, of course, your kindness. And Ms. Karolína, we will always remember your useful lessons, where we learned not only Czech from books, but also how people speak in the street and, of course, your eco-friendly lifestyle when we talked about the environment, it was an inspiration.
Paní Jana, teacher: Learning languages is one thing, but opening your eyes, ears and heart to everything around you is very important. And I didn’t actually do it this semester because you all did it together.
Elena, Russia: We have become part of a big family. We are grateful not only for the rich knowledge, for the interesting lessons and the kind attitude towards everyone, we are also grateful for the fact that we feel safe and intelligent here, in the walls of ÚJOP. Everyone has their own path ahead of them and today we wish that all your dreams come true, that luck be your good friend and that you always remember the days when you studied here with affection. And we sincerely wish all the teachers good health, happiness and may you keep being inspired by students from different countries.
